DB2’s main competitor is Oracle. DB2 UDB Express is a low cost alternative to MS SQL Server and Oracle databases. Unlike its competitors, DB2's UDB Express low pricing doesn't mean sacrificing database functionality. DB2's UDB Express has the same core database functionality like all editions of DB2.
DB2 is usually administered through multi-platform java client GUI.
